About
I'm an Assistant Professor of Engineering Systems and Climate Security in the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology. Before joining TU Delft in 2024, I was a postdoc researcher at the Environmental Change Institute in Oxford, where I also obtained my PhD in Geography and the Environment in 2022, as well as a Sustainable Development Economics Fellow at the World Bank (2022-2023). My PhD thesis 'Present and future climate risks to global port infrastructure and maritime trade flows' was awarded the EPSRC Postdoctoral Prize. I further hold a MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford and a MSc in Civil Engineering (focus Hydraulic Engineering) from Delft University of Technology.

My research aims to bridge disciplines, bringing together insights and methods from engineering, environmental science, data analytics, and geography. I enjoy doing research linked to societal challenges, in a collaborative fashion. For instance, I work with various international organisations (World Bank, ITF-OECD, NGOs and the IMF), national governments and infrastructure operators on topics related to systemic risk, infrastructure planning and climate. I am a co-founder and geospatial modelling lead of the PortWatch platform, a real-time trade activity monitor of ports and chokepoints globally.
